Job Description

A well-established commercial property management company in Downtown San Diego is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist to join their accounting team. This role will handle the full-cycle AP process for a multi-entity portfolio, ensuring accurate coding, timely payments, and strong collaboration with property management and accounting staff. This is a Temp-to-hire role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process a high volume of invoices across multiple entities and properties, ensuring accurate coding to the correct GL accounts and property allocations.
  • Match and verify invoices with purchase orders, contracts, and service agreements.
  • Prepare weekly check runs, ACH payments, and credit card reconciliations.
  • Review AP aging and assist with accruals and reconciliations during month-end close.
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Maintain proper documentation, vendor files, and ensure compliance with W-9 and 1099 requirements.
  • Partner with property managers and accounting staff to ensure timely payments of critical expenses such as taxes, insurance, and utilities.
  • Support process improvement initiatives and assist during audits as needed.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of full-cycle Accounts Payable experience, ideally within property management or commercial real estate.
  • Strong understanding of general ledger coding and property-level expense allocations.
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • Experience working with property management systems; AppFolio experience preferred.
  • Multi-entity accounting experience required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and communication skills.
